This method is only used when you are in your home country, using a SIM card from that country. Vyke connects using your local GSM minutes.
This is a great way to use Vyke, especially if you are out of range of a Wi-Fi hotspot and also have a monthly bundled minutes allowance. The app also needs to be connected to a mobile data signal to initiate the call.
The call takes roughly 8 seconds to connect. Local Access is available in 20 countries.
Connect using Wi-Fi when you have a good quality internet connection, you’ll only pay Vyke’s low rates on international calls.
We also recommend using Wi-Fi to connect when you’re abroad as this option avoids all roaming fees. If Wi-Fi is not connected, the app will connect the call to Vyke using your 3G or 4G data connection using this calling method.
Please note you will be charged at standard data roaming rates by your mobile provider (these charges can be high when you are roaming).
You click your contact and Vyke calls you and then connects you to the number you are calling. Callback should be used in countries where Local Access is not available.
Callback calls are slightly more expensive as there are two parts to each call. The app requires a very small amount of data to initiate the call.
